Sailor Moon M
Mind over Matter
Written by Beth
Ok, this story
takes place after the Stars series. It
involves all the scouts including the Starlights
except for Chibi Chibi and Galaxia. It could be long,
but I think it's cool, so just stick with me, sorry if
I write a novel.
Disclaimer: Obviously I do not own Sailor Moon, if I
did, I would be drawing more, like the real artist
should be. Ok, you've been warned.
"Hey Serena, wait for me!" Ami yelled as she ran to
catch up with her blonde friend. She glanced at her
watch and noticed school did not start for another 15
minutes. "Man, this is weird," she thought, "Serena,
actually on time for school?" Of course she did not
say that out loud, she would never hurt anyone's
feelings intentionally, "for the most part," she
thought.
"Oh. hi Ami," Serena sighed.
"Something must be up, she sounds so depressed." Ami
said to herself. "What's wrong Serena, shouldn't you
be happy. Today is Thursday and we have a three day
weekend coming up," she said aloud.
"Oh, I dunno Ami, it's just that, well, it seems like
everyone's leaving me. I miss Rini so much, but she
went back home to the future. And Darien is in America
for some medical conference. The Starlights went back
home, so they're light years away. And then Hotaru,
Setsuna, Haruka, and Michiru are off studying in
northern Japan for a while. I just wish everyone could
be here at once."
"Oh Serena, I know how you feel. But you know we
can't do anything about that. So it would be better to
just get through today and enjoy your long weekend,
you never know when things will start looking up."
"Oh, thank you Ami, I do feel better, and I'll try.
Hey, at least I still have you, and Mina, Lita, and
Rei, not to mention Molly and Melvin."
"And there's another good thing," Ami said, "you'll
have more time to study!"
"Amiiiiiiiii!" Serena whined.
"Ok, so how do you pronounce this name, Juh - bun,
Joo - bine? I dunno, it's a high school, I know that
much, I guess. Oh, why did we have to move here
anyway? I miss my old school, I miss snow, I miss the
daily comics, I miss Maine, but most of all, I miss my
friends. But my dad got transferred, so here I am, in
Japan. A very strange part of Japan I must say,
everyone speaks English and looks American, but Japan
nonetheless, thousands of miles away from Maine.

"Oh my goodness!" The girl snapped to attention, "I'm
late, on my first day of school! Oh where is that dumb
office?"
"Hmmm, so the tangent of a + b is tangent a plus
tangent b over 1 minus tangent a times tangent b. And
b = 30 degrees, and tangent a = .423, then tangent a +
b equals." Ami was jarred from her trig by a voice
calling her name. "Huh?" she thought as she looked
around the seemingly empty room, when.
"Boo!"
"Ack!" she yelped. She looked up into the familiar
green eyes (authors note: ok, so I don't know what
color his eyes are) and smiled. "Hi Greg, don't scare
me like that." When suddenly realization sunk in
"GREG! What are you doing here? I thought you were
living in France?"
"I was," he replied, "but my Dad got a permanent
job
here, in Japan, so I won't have to leave again!"
"Oh, I'm so happy!" she squealed (mind you, she
doesn't squeal often), and ran up and gave him a hug.
"Now you can help me, I can't remember, what's the
domain of an inverse cosine graph?"
"All right Mina! Volley ball starts today in PE, you
ready?" Lita asked.
"Of course," Mina replied. "We're gonna nock 'em
dead! Yeah!" They ran up to each other and slapped
hands hard. A bit too hard I believe, because
afterwards they both howled in pain.
"I'm so happy it gonna be a long weekend," Lita
sighed, "nothing to do at all."
"No monsters to fight," Mina added mentally. "Hey,
Lita, do you know when Michiru and company are coming
home?"
"Um, no I don't. Although I wish they'd come home
soon, I have something I wanted to ask Setsuna."
"Like what?" Mina asked.
"Oh I dunno, it's nothing I guess. It's just, well,
lately I've felt as if the scouts aren't a whole yet.
I thought she might know, being the senshi of time an
all."
"I know what you mean," Mina replied, "I've felt
the
same way recently, but it might just be that Darien,
Rini, Hotaru, Michiru, Setsuna, Haruka, Yaten, Taiki,
and Seya are all gone." (shew, that's a long list.)
"Yeah, that might be it," Lita mused.
"This sucks, I'm am so mad I could just scream, in
fact, I think I will." She opened her mouth and
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"I hate this school, this whole darn country, I want
to be home. I'm so mad, I can't take art and calculus;
I can only take one. Plus I have to take PE, what a
waste of time, I run on my own as it is. But even
though I'm old enough, and I'm fast, I still can't run
track because I'm 'new' and the school is 'unsure of
my academic status.'" She ran up to a locked and
kicked it with all her might. Oh course, the locked
was broken so it sprung open and hit her in the head.
"Great, now I'm gonna have a bruise." She ran away
steaming mad. As she left, the locker, which had just
jumped open, cracked, right down the center.
Sigh, "Only 30 minutes until lunch, hmmm maybe Lita
brought extra food, that would cheer me up."
"Serena! Serena! Earth to Serena! What do we call the
thing we map genetic crosses on?" Serena's teacher
yelled.
"What? Genetic crosses? I thought this was History."
The class erupted in laughter. Serena's face turned
bright red as she slumped lower in her seat. Then she
heard a whisper from behind.
"Punnett squares."
"Punnett squares?" Serena repeated.
"Very good Serena, now please try and pay more
attention." Her teacher said.
Serena turned around to thank the girl who told her
the answer, but she had her head down on the desk and
did not hear.
Sniff, Sniff, "It's not fair. I hate this school, I
hate it, I hate it, and I hate it! If I were at home
I'd be in the 11th grade, but no the Japanese are sure
all Americans are dumb so they put me in 10th grade.
So now I have to retake biology and math. Then when we
had PE today I finally got happy, because we were
doing the 100-meter dash. So we ran and I won, but
then this guy came up to me and started yelling about
how I 'cheated' and raised his hand to slap me. So I
punched him in the stomach and flipped him on his
back. Then I told him 'no one, and I mean NO ONE
threatens me.' Of course later I find out that he is
only the most popular guy in school. Then, we were
playing volleyball, but no one wanted me on his or her
team, so I had to sit out. While I was on the side I
just got madder and madder, and then one of the poles
cracked, right in the middle. It fell over, and
luckily no one was hurt, but I have this strange
feeling that it was my fault. Finally, after gym was
over I had lunch, so I went into the cafeteria to eat,
but no one would let me sit at their table and they
all made fun of my name and my clothes, and my accent.
So here I am, lost, in this huge school, sitting under
some huge tree, by myself!" The girl drew her knees up
to her chest, buried her head in her arms, and sobbed.
"Come on Serena, I'm hungry!" Mina whined.
"Just a second guys, I need to find that girl and
thank her!"
"Is that her?" Greg pointed to a girl sitting under a
big oak tree. She had long brown hair tied into two
pigtails. Her face was hidden and she did not seem to
hear the friends.
"She must be new," Ami said, "because she doesn't
have a uniform."
Serena walked up to the girl. "Um, hi, my name's
Serena. I just wanted to thank you for your help in
science!" The girl looked up and glared at Serena. "Oh
my goodness! You've been crying, are you ok?" asked
Serena, oblivious of the look.
"Look, I do not need any of your sympathy, I can take
care of myself. So unless any of you have plane
tickets back to America I don't need anything from
you!" The girl got up and ran away.
"Man she's fast!" Lita gawked.
"Well, now we know she's from America," Mina
contemplated.
"She's faster than me!" Lita squeaked.
Ami walked into her math class, early as usual, and
saw a girl talking to her teacher. "That's that
American girl," she thought. Now that she could see
her up close she noticed that the girl had bright blue
eyes, but they were all puffy, she had obviously been
crying for a while.
"Look, I'm not saying I'm better than everyone, it's
just that I've already taken this math. At home I
would be in calculus I and II, I took trig last year!"
The girl said.
"I'm sorry, uhem, Autumn, snicker, it's just that
American standards are, how can I say this, much lower
than mine."
"Can't you just test me?"
"No! Now sit down, class is starting!"
The girl stomped to the back of the class. Ami sat
down in front of her and saved a seat for Greg.
A few minutes later
"Miss Smith, if you are so good in the class, could
you please finish this justification?"
"First of all, it's not Smith, it's Smuth, Autumn
Smuth! And second of all, of course I can, but it
would be rude to prove you wrong in front of the
class." Autumn said.
"Wrong? How so?" the teacher asked.
"Just trust me, you'll never verify it that way,
you'll just go in circles!"
"Miss Mizuno, would you please prove me right?" the
teacher asked.
"Um, Mr. Hunlick, she's correct." Ami replied.
"Well then how would you solve it?" Mr. Hunlick
asked. Ami started to get up but he said, "no, not you
Ami, Miss Smuth."
Autumn got up and instantly verified the equation.
"Wow," Ami thought, "she's as fast as I am in this
class."
"What an awful day, nothing went right!" Autumn
thought as she angrily kicked a stone down the street.
She looked up to see where it had gone and noticed a
blue haired girl ahead of her with her nose stuck in a
book. "Hey, that's that Ami kid in my math class,
maybe I should thank her for sticking up for me." She
ran ahead and soon caught up with Ami. "Um, Ami right?
Hi, I'm Autumn." She said, shyly tapping Ami on the
shoulder.
"Oh, um, hi," Ami said warily.
"Don't worry, I won't bite," Autumn replied, smiling
a little.
"She's actually quite pretty when she's not hostile,"
Ami thought.
"You're that blonde girl's friend, right, the one
whose hair kinda looks like meatballs?"
"Who, Serena? Yeah."
"Well, could you tell her I'm sorry for yelling at her
before, I just had a really, really bad day, the worst
actually."
"Oh sure, she's probably already forgiven you," Ami
replied, relaxing noticeably, "you're from America,
aren't you?"
"Uh huh, and no offense to you, because you seem
nice, but the Japanese as a whole haven't been very
accepting of that fact"
"Oh I know, they don't like people who are different,
but do not worry, they'll come around. Hey, do you
want to come with me and meet my friends, you could
apologize to Serena in person?"
"I'd really like to, but I can't, I have to finish
unpacking. Thanks any way."
"Well then, at least eat a picnic lunch with us
tomorrow, we usually eat under that tree you were
sitting under today."
"Great! I'd love to, thanks," Autumn's smile seemed
to stretch from ear to ear, that was the first bit of
good news she'd heard all day. "Well, I'll see you
tomorrow Ami, bye!" she called, as she ran home.
Millions of miles away a shadow said to his queen. "I
believe we are ready to land on earth Queen Zao
(authors note: pronounce, Zah - oh).
"Good Kayono (authors note: pronounce Kay - oh - no),
and I assume everything is set to extract the gray
stones?"
"Of course my queen."
"Excellent!"
Author: Ooh, it just got good, huh? Well, if not, I'm
sorry, but the story may take a while to develop, even
though you've probably already guessed a fair amount.
Um, I'll try and put this out as often as possible,
but I do not know how often that will be. So, um,
sorry. Until next time,
Beth
P.S. Ok, I do not know just how un-accepting the
Japanese are of Americans, so if you're Japanese, I'm
sorry, I'm just trying to write a story.
